Water Filters
PFAS and other contaminants show up in tap water across the U.S. A good home filter can greatly reduce them. These guides compare pitchers and reverse osmosis systems by certification, filter life and ease of use.
What to check before you buy
- Certification: look for NSF/ANSI 53 or 58, or IAPMO and WQA listings, for PFOA/PFOS claims.
- Certified vs tested: certified means an independent body checked it. Tested often means a lab the brand hired.
- Filter life: replace filters on time. An old filter can stop working.
- Your water: read your utility’s yearly water quality report first.
